Delicate
Wine Tasting Term
|
|
A delicate wine is purposefully light and subtle, with no overtly bold characteristics. A good delicate wine is enjoyed because of its fineness.
Tannins and acidity will be undetectable in a delicate wine. By minimizing these two components, the winemaker eliminates the harsh elements of the wine, leaving only hints of fruit and alcohol. But since a delicate wine lacks the tannins required for preservation, it will not age well and should be drunk young.
An attractive delicate wine will be white far more often than it will be red. However, a superior Pinot Noir can be desirably delicate.
