A deep wine is an intensely rich wine. The depth of a wine can refer to the color, flavor or nose of the wine.
When used to describe the color of a wine, deep is typically reserved for red wines, but can also apply to whites. A deep-colored wine will be dark and nearly opaque; if it is white, it will look golden in color, and if it is red, it will appear almost purple. When used to describe the taste, depth indicates that the wine seems to saturate your mouth with concentrated and complex flavors. A deep nose is long-lasting and fills your nose with strong aromas.
Deep can also be called *concentrated*.
