Chewy

Wine Tasting Term

A chewy wine is so big, thick and dry that it can create a sensation to begin chewing in order to swallow the wine.

A wine that is chewy will be heavy, full-bodied and rich, with a high level of tannins. It will also be red.

Chewy is commonly used to describe Zinfandels.
